mCDR: Fact, Fiction, and the Future at NYC Climate Week
September 24, 2025 | Manhattan, New York
Alicia Karspeck (moderator), panelists (Diane Hoskins - Carbon to Sea Initiative, Matt Long - [C]Worthy, and Grace Andrews - Hourglass), and attendees at the NYC Climate Week event.
[C]Worthy convened researchers, technology developers, investors, and partners for a conversation focused on clarifying common misconceptions about marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) and highlighting recent progress across science, quantification, and commercialization.
As mCDR technology advances, outdated narratives around ecological risk and the credibility of measurement continue to shape public and market perceptions. This event created space to ground discussion in the current state of the science, including how approaches such as ocean alkalinity enhancement are being evaluated and what rigorous, transparent MRV requires.
This event was organized in partnership with the Carbon to Sea Initiative and Hourglass Climate.
